Get your garden Christmas-ready

Want your garden looking great when your guests arrive for Christmas?
A little bit of work now and you can sit back and relax knowing everything’s done.

Refresh your garden beds
Before the heat of summer really takes hold it's a great time to go through your garden beds, giving them a good weeding and checking for any plants which may have died off. Add in some good quality garden mix to help your plants thrive. We can arrange delivery in our 4T Tip Truck and our digger or bobcat can help to get the soil on site too.

Why not add a bit of colour in some bare patches of your garden, you can go for some bright annuals which will flower for your Christmas guests!

Mulch
While you're at it, get some mulch, or even better, hire our Heavy Duty Wood chipper and turn your excess branches into mulch to cover your garden beds. Not only does it give a fresh look to your garden beds, it also keeps the moisture in, maintains an even soil temperature and blocks the sun, inhibiting weed growth.

Pruning
It is best-practice to prune your trees before summer. It helps them grow strong and maintain a good shape. It’s also a good idea to remove damaged branches to allow for new growth. As above, you can use your pruning for mulch, give us a call to find out about Wood Chipper hire, either DIY or with one of our operators.

Start Composting

Summer is the perfect time to start a composting system at home. All those yummy salads and extra entertaining means that you'll have loads of food scraps from fruit and vegetables.

You can buy an inexpensive compost bin from your local hardware store and set it up in a corner of your garden. A great tip is to use a small compost container to keep in the kitchen. That way you only need to take your food scraps out every couple of days.

There are also compost bins on a rotating stand. This helps with aeration, speeding up the composting process. Maybe you'd like to consider setting up a worm farm too!

The compost mix you will produce is amazing for your plants, herb or vegetable garden.

Grow some vegetables

Did you know, summer is actually the perfect time for planting tomatoes, zucchinis and sweet corn.

Why not create a raised garden bed to grow your vegetables in? Raised garden beds equal less weeds, more growing space, less soil erosion, better water retention than sandy soils, and better drainage than clay soils.

We recently helped a customer build a fantastic garden area at the home. Take a look at the video below!

Give us a call if you'd like something like this created in your garden too.

So enjoy your summer break and getting out in the garden with friends and family.
